For first character I recommend the discipline that makes your armor and the discipline that makes your primary weapon choices. You can sub either for Cooking if you want to, but on my account I have Cooking and Jewel-crafting on a crafting slave who just lives in Lion's Arch, and I just bank or shared inventory over the stuff I need.
Best light armor class in 2023. I returned to GW2 a couple of months ago. Over the years I’ve gone from maining a core warrior to ele, to Reaper then Alac Renegade. I’ve always mained a Mesmer in sPvP. Since returning Im dabbling in the new elites of EOD. I’m loving my Vindicator and Bladesworn.
Engineer has always been the least played profession until they introduced Revenant. Despite people claiming Ele is dead or no one play Elementalist, there were still more elementalist player overall than Engineer. It took 10 years and an elite spec for Engineer to see more people play the class.

We are looking at a new weapons being introduced while balance between classes, and in some cases between elite specs within a class, is completely out of wack, alongside new content that is full of bugs that need immediate fixing, while PvE and WvW is full of bugs and exploits that need dealing with.
There's a lot of drama out there, but there's still plenty of good healers. People are lamenting the loss of aegis and of 10-man boons + heals on certain professions, but this hasn't completely negated the strength of healing professions in general It is a bit hard to pick just one to go with, because now almost every profession has one.
1. Mirage regardless of state still most visually/aurally appealing. 2. There's so many would be difficult to like them all. 3. Yes I really would like a hammer mesmer, but given virtuoso has already filled some thoughts I had for that, now would be looking at heavy
